Are poker opens actually open?

Poker is the online game. Millions turn on their PC's everyday to try their luck, either with a free roll tournament or a very expensive yet rewarding buy-in game. It is the one online game that really has boomed since the introduction of the internet although if truth be told online bingo is now moving up the ladder at the pace of an avalanche.

With all the funds that are pumped into online poker and in particular the larger online poker rooms it seems strange that it is always the same few players in the final. Do they get wildcards to get into the further rounds or have they also started on the very first table. Afterall the game of poker is arguably just luck, at least 75% of the game is, having to receive two cards and then have five cards placed in front of you shows less skill than putting up Christmas decorations.

Nonetheless, and without going "off topic" it does make one think when at all of these tournaments the same old boring faces turn up time after time. Should ten thousand players all start at the same level then one would doubt the same players would be turning up.

It also seems that certain celebrities are seen plying their poker trade at poker opens. How on earth did they get there? It was certainly not by playing through 100,000 poker hands and most probably resulted from a swift buy-in or even worse, a small brown envelope of cash passed over for their attendance in front of the cameras.

Poker is a big game but unlike Poker Fruit Games it can certainly be boring, with many "poker stars" just chatting and taking far too long to make a decision on whether they wish to check, hold or raise. If one were to do the same at online poker the player is quickly pressed out via the big blinds and eventually removed. Maybe these players do have the right to be there, afterall they have probably started at the lowest level going but that is no excuse for keeping these dinosuars on our screens during live televised poker events when there are so many other younger players wanting to push through but can't becuase a certain older player has his backside plugged to the seat.

It is certainly time to give those that actually play as a hobby a go and getting into the final and online poker opens are the only way to go, the viewer may not recognise the player by their online alias but at least that way everybody gets a go at getting to the top of the pile.

Online poker tournaments are commonly held at Rushmore Casino, and in particular free roll poker tournaments are great fun and really worth joining even if you just wish to test the water, they are free, can last a while and you never know, it may be you that has the next big buck of luck to take you to the top tree.
