The 2007 Pro Poker Season

Who would have thought 10 years ago that such an easy to learn game would become the biggest and most popular table sport in the world?

Since it's inception, the world of pro poker has been the fastest growing and most widely played sport in the world. Tournaments are help regularly with top prizes ranging in the millions of dollars, and it's not stopping there. Pro Poker has spawned it's own gaming products, video games, and probably the most important - it's own television specials that take the viewer to the actual tables to get a true to life view of the real tournament action.

Now that 2007 has rolled around, players are preparing more than ever to hone their games and have a shot at this year's prize money on the World Poker Tour and Professional Poker Tour. Any pro will say that in order to be a skilled player on the porfessional level, it takes hours and hours of practice. If one wants to become a true master, they must live and breathe poker to get that competitive style of thinking and playing. Online poker has since exploded with gaming clients that allow players to use real or fake money to give themselves unlimited practice opprotunity, but many players agree that real table gaming is completely different from the world of online poker.

A good way to break oneself from the habit of hiding behind a computer screen is to get out there and do some real poker playing at a real table with real people. THIS IS ESENTIAL in order to get real life gaming experience. Trust me, I've watched plenty of so-called "online poker sharks" crash and burn when they hit the real tables. It's almost humorous to watch their egos plummet. The BEST way to get the practice you need without blowing too much hard earned cash at the casinos is to take the time to locate a reliable poker supply shop and invest in a professional set of poker chips along with a few other odds and ends that they use at the real tables such as dealer buttons or even a full sized poker table if you've got the money to spare. they are actually a lot less than you'd think for a good one. The fold out ones are nice and are easy to store in a garage or closet. The only place on the internet I use to get my poker supplies is Poker-Proshop.com. Everything is less than retail price and it's very easy to reach their support department if you have a question. They've got some nice instructional poker DVD's and DVD sets of the WPT as well. A friend of mine picked up one of the season box sets. We already knew the outcomes, but it was neat to relive the main events on DVD.

Granted, having the porofessional poker supplies won't make you a pro, but it will certainly prepare you for the real world of poker when it's finally time to hit the money tables. Online practice is good, but it's absolutely nothing compared to the real deal. Be sure to keep an out out for the 2007 World Poker Tour Season. Events start this year as early as April 21st for the WPT World Championship. With more names out there than ever, it's sure to be an exciting year in the world of professional poker!
